No one seems to remember what happened this meeting. Weird, huh?

Wednesday September 22nd, 1999
Speaker: Barb Brenner
The seminar room was abuzz with ADO & VB! Barb Brenner facilitated a lively discussion on the basics of ADO, the 20 ways to bind Data Consumers to Data Sources using ADO & VB6, and what DAO capabilities are not supported by ADO–yet. We found excellent articles on converting DAO to ADO code and using VB6 Web Tools at http://msdn.microsoft.com/voices (then click on Archive, July/Aug 1999). On the side, we also learned that most people in the room knew the ASCII value for the apostrophe, the quotation mark, carriage return line feed, beep, and other vital geek details. We also enjoyed PIZZA & POP provided by the Maxim Group and the good fortune of extra cookies from the Ziff-Davis training center.

Wednesday May 26th, 1999
This was our last meeting for the summer. With no formal speaker, we cranked up a PC to try things on and had a lively meeting of all questions, answers, sharing knowledge, industry analysis and lots of chuckling over the trials and tribulations of working with Visual Development Tools. We learned some Access tricks, some web-design tips, we continued our Win CE discussion, and that it's worth keeping Visual Interdev 1.0 installed even if you generally use 6.0, because of the labor-saving Database Wizard that somehow went extinct in 6.0, and much more...

Wednesday April 21st, 1999
Smorgasbord Night at VDUNY! A lively discussion ensued about many topics: VB programming opportunities at local companies; comparison of Access, SQL Server, Visual Basic, Delphi, and other tools; Tom Kolankiewicz brought many technical and project management nuggets of wisdom from his trip to April VBITS; Tim Nedopak cleared up many myths and confusions about WinCE programming; and we all generally shared a lot of knowledge this night. We also decided to establish a new VDUNY meeting night of the 4th Wednesday (mainly so that members could attend both VDUNY and other meetings that fall on the 3rd Wednesday, but also because the 4th Wednesday seems to work out better for room availability).

Wednesday Mar 24th, 1999
Speaker: Dimitri Shapiro
Dimitri Shapiro of Eastman Kodak described the low-down and answered our questions on what's really important in designing with the Microsoft DNA (Distributed Internet Architecture) - an updated three-tier or N-tier distributed application design. We also saw Microsoft's perspective on this architecture while viewing a video of Paul H. Gross speaking at Microsoft TechEd about the same topic.

Wednesday Feb 24th, 1999
Speaker: Barb Brenner
Barb Brenner, instructor at Element K Learning Center, led PART 2 of an informal tour of the new features of Visual Basic 6.0 - the Web Tools.

Wednesday Jan 27th, 1999
Meeting cancelled.
